Privacy Policy
This policy explains what CineLabs collects when you use our websites and the Cadence Mac app, what we never see, and how to contact us.
Short version: Cadence edits stay on your Mac. We do not upload your footage or music. Optional analytics (PostHog EU) only run if you allow them. Website waitlists store the email you submit.
1. Who we are
CineLabs operates cinelabs.pro and the Cadence desktop application. For privacy questions, email [email protected].
2. Cadence app: what stays on your device
Cadence is a local Mac app. By design:
- Footage, audio, timelines, and exported XML stay on your computer. We do not receive media files.
- License / unlock state, export counters, and preferences are stored locally under your Mac user account (Application Support).
- Crash breadcrumbs may be written to a local log file on your machine to help diagnose failures.
3. Optional product analytics
If you choose Allow analytics in Cadence, we send anonymous usage and diagnostic events to PostHog (EU cloud) so we can improve stability and features.
- Examples: export succeeded/failed, feature used, approximate counts (clip count, duration settings), not file names of your media when we can avoid them, and never the media itself.
- If you choose Continue without, analytics stay off.
- You can reset the choice by clearing Cadence app data / the consent key in local storage and relaunching.
PostHog processes data in the EU under their terms. See posthog.com/privacy.
4. Website (cinelabs.pro)
When you use the site:
- Waitlist / contact forms: we store the email (and any message) you submit, via our form backend (currently Supabase), so we can notify you about launches or reply.
- Technical logs: hosting providers may process standard request logs (IP, user agent, URL) for security and reliability.
- We do not sell personal data.
5. Payments & licenses
Cadence free use includes a limited number of clean exports and optional watermarked exports. Paid unlock / license keys (when offered) are validated locally. We do not need your project media to activate a license. Payment processors (if used) handle card data under their own policies. CineLabs does not store full card numbers.
6. Cookies & local storage
The Cadence app may store consent and UI state locally. The marketing site may use local/session storage for form UX. We do not run third-party ad trackers on the Cadence product surface.
7. Data retention
- Waitlist emails: kept until you ask us to delete them or the list is retired.
- Analytics events (if enabled): retained according to our PostHog project settings, typically for product improvement over months, not indefinitely for profiling.
- Local app data: until you delete the app / clear Application Support.
8. Your choices
- Decline analytics in Cadence and keep using the product.
- Email us to remove a waitlist address or ask what we hold about you.
- Stop using the site or uninstall Cadence at any time.
9. Terms of use (summary)
Cadence is provided as-is for creative workflows. You are responsible for rights to the media you import and for exports you publish. Watermarked exports include a CineLabs/Cadence overlay for free use beyond clean-export limits; removing that overlay requires unlock/license per the in-app terms. Do not reverse-engineer license checks or redistribute cracked builds.
